apple and slug

slug on apple 2.JPG

apple carved, not turned ( you dont really get round apples), from tulipwood.
The stalks are carved from rosewood and the slug from the grey sapwood of red padauk.
The bite is created by inlaying a shape of sycamore to the depth of about 5mm then carving into it to give a bite-like recess.
The hardest part is fashioning the inner line of the slug to fit tightly against the outer edge of the asymetrical apple.
All good fun.
