The Archive is open to the general public. Opening hours are Tues, Wed, Thurs, Term time only. The Archive collection includes: -India Collection c.1868 - bound volumes of fabric samples -Textbooks - relating to textile design, manufacture, craft-Pattern Books - large bound volumes from companies such as Denholme Velvets . . .Within the 'America' series of pattern books are the famous Salvador Dali printed textile designs.-Pattern Service -publications providing colour and fabric prediction services. 'Les Tissus, 1895, 'Bilbille' dating from early 1930s to 60s, and 'Italtex' from 1980s to date.-Pattern Cards- A3 cards displaying 8,000 to 10,000 fabric samples-Journals - back issues of Wool Record dating from 1913, other journals include Journal of the Textile Institute, The Textile Institute & Industry, Textile Month, Wool Science Review, Textile Horizon-Minute Books and Cash books -from various textile trade organisations of the district.

Tate Library and Archive at the Hyman Kreitman Research Centre

The Tate Library broadly covers those areas in which Tate collects: British art from the Renaissance to the present day and international modern art. The emphasis is on fine art in the Western tradition and international contemporary art.Access to the Research Centre is by appointment and for reference only. They are unable to accommodate A-level students.Opening hours:Reading Room: Monday-Friday, 11.00 - 17.00Archive & Special Collections Room: Monday-Wednesday, 11.00 - 17.00At the time of making an appointment researchers may request up to 5 items to be retrieved for them up to a week in advance of their visit.More information is on their website.

St Ives Trust

The St Ives Trust is a charitable organisation that was set up in 1967 to educate the public in the history, architecture, geography and natural history of St Ives and District.The Centre collects information about the arts community. It holds at least 350 files on individual artists, sculptors, potters, crafts people and photographers from the mid-nineteenth century to the present who have worked and/or lived in St Ives for some part of their lives. Much of the information in the files relates to their life and work that was produced or exhibited in St Ives itself.There are also nearly 70 files on galleries and societies, both in St Ives and around the country, as well as a growing collection of photographs of the artists and their work, exhibition catalogues, auction catalogues, art journals, films on videotapes, audio recordings and students dissertations.The Centre has an incomparable archive on Tate St Ives including a complete collection of press cuttings from 1989, when the St Ives Tate Action Group was formed to raise money to build the gallery, to the present time
