Seeing Red : Scotland's Exotic Textile Heritage

Seeing Red : Scotland's Exotic Textile Heritage is an exhibition curated by Liz Arthur which traces the development of the Turkey -red dyeing industry , from 1785 - 1930s. Comprising rarely seen photographs, textiles, sample books, fabric lengths and manufacturers' labels, from private and public collections, the show offers an inspiring insight into one of Scotland's most successful export industries , responsible for introducing the popular bandanna to US cowboys and supplying India, SE Asia and the Caribean with vivid red fabrics throughout the 19th century.
