Art of Fine Craft Conference 2009: [kuh-nek-tiv]

Event date:
Thursday, 1 October, 2009 - 08:30 - Friday, 2 October, 2009 - 19:00

Art of Fine Craft 2009: [kuh-nek-tiv] is a biennial conference presented by Lux Center for the Arts and the Department of Art at Nebraska Wesleyan University. The conference provides an opportunity for students, educators, artists, collectors and the public to connect, learn and explore. The conference will be held October 1 and 2, 2009.

Our goal is to create a dialogue about the connections between media and maker, experiences in the contemporary world, and the vitality of centuries-old craft traditions in modern society. We hope this conference will lead to further discussion about the connections that fine craft can facilitate.

This year, presenters will include Jason Briggs, Victoria Goro-Rapoport and Jess Starkel. Our keynote speaker is Sonya Clark, whose visit is sponsored by the Nebraska Wesleyan Forum Series. All presenters are recognized artists within their field and have extensive award and exhibition records. The conference will include demonstrations, lectures and exhibitions by the aforementioned artists.

The conference is funded in part by grants from the Nebraska Humanities Council and the Nebraska Arts Council.
