The British Council is Britains principal agency for cultural relations overseas. It provides access to British ideas, creative talents and expertise, and promotes the achievements of British artists abroad. It organises many exhibitions and helps artists through its Grants to Artists scheme. The main offices are situated in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Spring Gardens - London, Portland Place - London and Manchester. The Information Centres in London and Manchester are happy to help with general enquiries.The Grants for Artists scheme is designed to help those working in visual art or craft (who are resident in UK) with the costs of exhibiting abroad.
